We recreated simple but flavourful T&T BBQ mop sauce in 6 easy steps. Here we focused only on ingredients fresh and readily available at home. You won’t have to buy your favorite but expensive Thyron mop sauce anymore for barbecuing.

This is the main ingredient on the list. You can use either white or apple cider vinegar depending on which one is available in your home. You’ll need approximately 4 cups of vinegar in this recipe.

The second dominant ingredient to mention is lard. Lard is 100% animal fat that is taken from animal meat. It comes in both like bars and also in soft texture stored in jars. You’ll need half a pound of lard. Lard is the secret ingredient that gives you the best smoke in your smoked chicken mop sauce.

Seasoned Salt:

Seasoned salt is a game-changer ingredient in this recipe. It’s not any ordinary salt but is made with salt, paprika, pepper, onion, and garlic powder. 1 teaspoon full seasoned salt would be enough for this Big T’s mop sauce recipe.

Red Pepper

Red pepper is a smoothly ground mix of dry chili peppers. 1 teaspoon of red pepper is added to the recipe to make the sauce spicy enough for your BBQ ribs.

White Pepper

White pepper is made from ripe pepper berries. Be careful while using white pepper as it has a stronger pungent flavor than black pepper. 1 teaspoon of white pepper is needed in this recipe.

A sweet onion is not pungent like other varieties. Cut 1 sweet white onion into rough slices for this recipe. You can use other varieties of onion if you don’t have sweet onion at home.

Green Bell pepper

One Roughly cut bell pepper is used in this recipe just to add favors. It’s not a mandatory ingredient. You can skip this if you don’t like the bitter flavor of green bell pepper.

Cumin is a must-have for intensifying the savory flavor of T&T BBQ mop sauce. Add one teaspoon of cumin with other spices in the sauce.

Brown Sugar

The reason for adding brown sugar to our sauce is that it balances the acidity of vinegar and is an overall good combination. 1 tablespoon of brown sugar would be enough for this recipe.

Method Of Preparing T&T BBQ Mop Sauce

The T&T BBQ mop sauce recipe is simple to follow and you can prepare it within 20 minutes. And you’d be happy to know that you can customize the recipe moderately according to available ingredients in your home.

Roughly cut one onion and one bell pepper. And put them aside. Your cutting doesn’t have to be precise as you can strain the sauce later.

Step 2:

Put a medium-sized saucepan on your gas stove and turn on the flame. Put half-pound lard of any brand of your choice. The lard will melt within 2 minutes.

Step 3:

Put onion and bell pepper in the lard and cook for 3 minutes on medium flame.

Let all the flavors of onion and bell pepper get into the lard.

Step 4:

Next, add seasoned salt and all the spice powders at once. Lower the flame so the spices don’t get burned. This is how we change the game. Cook for 2 minutes. It’ll smell divine at this stage.

Step 5:

Add 4 cups of white vinegar. Boil on a medium flame for 5 minutes. Don’t forget to add one teaspoon of brown sugar at this stage.

Step 6:

Turn off the flame. And there you go, you are almost there. Smells delicious, right? Now either you can strain the sauce or let it rest for 3 minutes. All the lumpy ingredients will sit down in your pan. Your tangy and smoky T&T BBQ mop sauce is ready. Dip your BBQ mop in the best mop sauce for ribs and have the ultimate barbecuing experience.

The Thickness
The T&T mop sauce must have an almost water-like liquid consistency. As you have to dip the mop itself in the sauce, a thicker consistency would not be convenient.
Careful Use Of Salt
Be careful while adding salt to your Big T’s sauce. As we all know vinegar is a little tangy already, the use of excess salt would not be a good combination.
The Strength
Vinegar has a very strong tangy taste. So, If the sauce seems too vinegary to you, you can add ⅓ cup of water with vinegar. But not more than that because more water will ruin the whole game.
Quality Of White Pepper
The white pepper you use in your T&T mop sauce must be restaurant-grade. Otherwise, the taste won’t be authentic.
