Tomatoes:

Tomatoes have an intense flavor with soft flesh that melts down fast. Tomatoes work as a base for our fajita skillet sauce. Alternatively, it enhances the thickness of the sauce. 1 can of diced tomatoes is used in the recipe.

Butter:

Love your frontera fajita sauce creamy? Butter is the key ingredient to make our fajita sauce rich and creamy. I used 1 tablespoon of salted butter in the recipe.

Salt And Pepper:

Salt and pepper are ingredients found in any savory recipe. Use 1 teaspoon of each or according to your taste.

Smoked Paprika:

Smoked paprika is used to improve the flavor of different recipes. Moreover, it makes soups, sauces, and stews spicy and smokey. 1 tablespoon smoked paprika gives our fajita sauce the needed spice and smokiness.

Lime Juice:

The acidic nature of lime juice pairs well with the other spices used in the recipe. It gives the fajita skillet sauce a nice zest and tang. Use 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor.

Ground Cumin:

Ground cumin is a powerful spice that enhances the savoriness of sauces and marinades. You’ll need 1 teaspoon for this copycat frontera fajita sauce recipe.

Chili Powder:

Chili powder is a mixture of cayenne pepper and some other ingredients. It is spicy and has a unique aroma. 1 teaspoon of chili powder makes our Fajita skillet sauce hot and smokey.

Garlic Powder & Onion Powder:

Garlic & Onion are strong spices that add sweetness and pungency to savory recipes. 1 teaspoon of both is used in the recipe to give the sauce a great flavor.

Notes

Wondering about the use of this sauce? To use fajita sauce as a marinade, spread it over meat or veggies. It will help to tenderize meat, too.
Want to thicken the sauce? Use 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with butter. Add fresh cream later in step 2.
Make this according to your spice preference. Add chili powder and smoked paprika as needed for your taste buds.
Make a big batch and store it in the freezer for months. Thaw completely before use.
Alternatively, You can keep it in the refrigerator for up to one week. Try not to keep it out of the fridge for a long time. As we didn’t use preservatives in the sauce, it may lose flavor.
You can use fresh tomatoes instead of canned ones.
If you want more savory-ness, don’t hesitate to use vegetable or chicken stock.
Use honey or white sugar if you don’t have brown sugar at home.
