Cranberry Jezebel Sauce Recipe

Cranberry Jezebel Sauce Recipe Ingredients:

In this smooth cranberry jezebel sauce, the sweet-tartness of the cranberries is amplified with the addition of pineapple preserves, cloves, and brown sugar. Not too sweet and the spicy touch makes it an awesome choice for holiday meals. Even the picky eaters love adding Jezebel Cranberry Sauce to their dishes. This recipe is superb in one word.

Cranberries:

Are you a cranberry fan like me? Cranberries are tart to taste and slightly acidic in nature. An appropriate amount of sugar is added to it to make it delicious. You’ll need 15 oz of fresh cranberries for the recipe. Just wash them and put them in the sugar syrup directly.

Granulated Sugar:

Granulated sugar is just our refined regular white sugar with a more neutral sweet flavor. I used ½ cup in the Jezebel sauce recipe.

Brown sugar:

Brown sugar is added to sauces for an overall richer flavor. ½ cup of brown sugar makes our smooth cranberry sauce sweet and gives a caramelized taste.

Water:

Water is used to boil sugar and cranberries for as long as the skin of the cranberries bursts. All the flavors meltdown in the sugar water and make the base for the sauce.1 cup of water would be enough.

Pineapple Preserves:

Pineapple preserves are used to spike the citrus element in the sauce. ½ cup of pineapple preserves brightens the flavors in our cranberry sauce.

Prepared Horseradish:

Horseradish is added to so many sauces and marinades to enhance the taste. 2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish is used in the recipe.

Ginger:

The warmth and spiciness of ginger complement the sweetness of cranberry sauce very well. ½ teaspoon of grated ginger will kick smooth cranberry sauce up a notch.

Cinnamon:

1 stick of cinnamon will punch the flavor up without tasting overwhelmingly spicy. Remove it after the sauce is cooked.

Dijon Mustard:

Dijon mustard is used to add a hint of spice to our sweet Jezebel sauce. Trust me, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard will do wonders.

Clove:

Clove, a gentle warming spice can be a welcome addition to your cranberry sauce. 2 cloves are used to bring brightness to the flavors.

Salt:

Salt balances all the sweet, tart, and spicy flavors. Use a pinch of salt in the recipe.

How To Make Smooth Cranberry Sauce?

Cranberries are small yet very nutritious with powerful antioxidants present in them. Our Cranberry jezebel sauce is not only flavorsome but also has nutritional benefits. It is rich in vitamin C and fiber.

I used zinger and clove to add a little twist to the normal Jezebel sauce. It is very addictive. It is also great served with poultry alongside many other dishes.

Directions:

Step 1:

Put water with both the white and brown sugar in a saucepan. Bring them to a boil.

Step 2:

Add cranberries, cinnamon stick, cloves and boil for 10 minutes on medium flame. The skins of the cranberries will burst. Cranberries will dissolve in the sugar syrup and the sauce will thicken up.

Step 3:

Remove the pan from the flame. Add mustard, pineapple preserves, horseradish, and salt. Mix very well. Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves from the sauce.

Step 4:

Let the sauce cool down. Wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Are you ready to enjoy your favorite cranberry Jezebel sauce?

Notes

Want an awesome appetizer? Pour this extraordinary Jezebel sauce over cream cheese and serve with crackers.
Also, you can serve it on sandwiches, on bagels with cream cheese, with a pot roast, chicken, pork, or lamb. The list goes on and on. What’s your favorite way to serve cranberry sauce?
Store it in a glass container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. It also freezes very well. Thaw it completely before you serve.
The cranberry sauce will get stiffer if you cook it for a long time. So, be careful of the cooking time.
The good news is you can use frozen cranberries if fresh ones are not available.
Adjust the use of sugar according to your taste.
Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice if you love your cranberry sauce more tangy.
Our southern Jezebel sauce is also great with desserts. Spread it on top of your muffins or waffles. I bet you’ll love it.
