Sure Jell Pepper Jelly Recipe

Ingredients Of Sure Jell Pepper Jelly

This pepper jelly recipe with sure jelly has surprisingly few common  ingredients! I see this as a beginner-friendly recipe.Super simple, minimum ingredients, and a strong flavour. Here’s everything you need to get started:

Green Bell Pepper

Peppers-1,1 , &10

This red pepper jam  includes jalapenos, green and red peppers. Jalapeño peppers give the jelly its characteristic fiery flavour. You can also add serrano peppers or habaneros in this recipe, but bear in mind that they will significantly increase the intensity.

Vinegar- 1&½  Tablespoon

In order to prevent your jelly from turning into a depressing, runny mess, the vinegar helps to set the pectin.

Fruit Pectin Powder-1.75 oz

Pectin is a gelling agent made exclusively from plants. It is a necessary ingredient in the recipe since it helps the jelly gel.I prefer to use sure jell Fruit Pectin.

Green Food Coloring- 6 drops

Food coloring provides a gorgeous green jelly, although it can be omitted if preferred.

Sugar – 6 cups

Sugar balances the spicy jalapeños, creating a gastronomic yin and yang.

Salt – as per your need

Salt helps to enhance the flavor of your red paper jam.

How To Make Jalapeno Jam?

Step 1

To get jalapeño peppers ready, rinse them and take out the stems and seeds (if you want a spicier taste). Cut the peppers into tiny bits with a food processor or blender.

Step 2

Put the peppers, vinegar, salt, sugar, and Green Food Colouring in a large pot or heavy kettle. When it boils, turn the heat down to medium-high.Boil for five minutes while stirring often.

Step 3

Bring the mix back up to high heat and boil it all the way through. Add the pectin and simmer, stirring constantly, for one minute.Take it off the heat.

Step 4

When you fill canning jars, leave an inch of space at the top. Put it in a water bath for ten minutes. It could be necessary to extend the processing time if you reside in a high altitude.Let the jelly “gel,” or harden, for about a day before you serve it.

Step 5

Crumbs should be served with cream cheese. That’s right, you can dip chicken or beef nuggets in this jelly.

Tips For Making Perfect Red Pepper Jam

  • When handling jalapeño peppers, wear rubber gloves to protect your skin from the oils that come from them.
  • You can change how spicy or sweet it is to your liking. Change the amounts of sugar and jalapeño peppers until the taste is just right.
  • Just add a few drops of green food colouring to the cooking mixture to make your hot pepper jelly green like store-bought jelly.
  • Play around with different kinds of peppers to make new tastes. For instance, you can add other peppers that are hot or use bell peppers instead for a milder form.
  • Be careful when working with pectin because it can form lumps if it’s not fully broken down. To get the best results, do what it says on the package.
  • If you want the finished jelly to have a smooth texture, skim off any foam that forms while it’s cooking.

How To Store Sure Jell Hot Pepper Jelly ?

If you make the jelly the right way and seal the jars properly, it will last up to two years. Once opened, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to three months.

Before you eat the jelly, be careful and look for signs that it is going bad, like mould, a bad smell, or a strange colour. You should throw it away if you see any signs of deterioration to keep health risks to a minimum.

How Do You Serve Sure Jell Pepper Jelly?

Most people serve jalapeno jelly with cream cheese and crackers, which is also my personal favourite way to eat it. It looks good and only takes three minutes to make. Additionally, I enjoy adding some to the centre of grilled cheese. It gives the food a fantastic flavour!
