Traeger Grills has been marketing handy grilling rubs, sauces, and accessories since 1986. Their Fin and Feather rub is a delicate yet flavorful rub made especially for poultry, fish, and seafood. Make this at home and give your fish and seafood a pleasant punch of flavors.
Rubs made for beef, pork, or poultry may overwhelm the original fresh flavors of fish and seafood. Traeger Fin and Feather rub is made with the chosen blend of spices that enhances the taste of fish and seafood. It is packed with light and fresh flavors of garlic, onion, paprika, cane sugar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Fin And Feather Seasoning Ingredients:

Looking for easy weeknight meal ideas? Season some turkey wings or legs with this Traeger rub, air fry, and pair them with your favorite salad. The ingredients used in the seafood rub are already present in your pantry. Let’s have a quick look at them:
Celery Salt:
Celery salt is a seasoned salt made with table salt and celery seeds. It complements seafood and fish very well. Use 2 tablespoons of celery salt in the seafood rub recipe.
Cane Sugar:
Cane sugar has a special fruity note that goes well with seafood. Use 2 tablespoons of cane sugar in the seafood rub recipe.
Garlic & Onion Powder:
Nothing tops the fresh flavors of garlic and onion powder, do they? Use 1 teaspoon of both powders in the Traeger rub recipe.
Cayenne Pepper:
Want some heat in the fish rub recipe? Use 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper for heat and spice.
Smoked Paprika:
Smoked paprika adds a smoky flavor and gives a nice red color. I used 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika in the recipe.
Black Pepper:
Black pepper has a bitter taste with a strong aroma. Use 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
Dry Mustard:
Dried mustard seeds kick the heat and add flavors to the Traeger rub recipe. Use 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds.
Lemon Zest:
Lemon zest is dried and powdered lemon peel. Use ½ teaspoon in our Fin and Feather rub recipe to add a freshness and citrusy kick to the flavors.
How To Make Seafood Rub?
Do you also find it satisfying to mix up your own blend of spices? I think it’s best to make rubs at home as I can customize the spice level and also it’s quite economical. Be it your turkey wings, or trout, season it once with our homemade Fin and Feather seasoning, and you’ll never look for another option.
Smoke, grill, bake, or pan-fry it’s good in every way. Let’s jump into the step-by-step directions:
Step 1:
Measure and gather all the ingredients in a blender jar. Blend for 2 minutes.
Step 2:
Transfer them to an airtight container and shake well to mix even better. Your Fin and Feather rub is ready to use.
Step 3:
Wipe out excess moisture from meat or fish. Brush on a little homemade melted butter. Coat with seafood and rub liberally from all sides. Let it rest for at least half an hour so all the flavors get sealed in the meat. Leave it overnight if you have time on hand. Then they’re ready for smoking, grilling, or air frying.
