Apple Sauce Recipe

Ingredients Of Easy Homemade Applesauce

Creating easy homemade applesauce requires just a few simple ingredients.

Apples  3 Lbs (1.4 Kg)

Pick an apple you like, and don’t forget to peel it before you cook! It always had tough bits of peel in the applesauce when I tried to make it without peeling the apples first.

Water 1 Cup (236 Ml)

You might not need to add as much water as I say if your apples are very juicy. For now, I think you should stick to the amount in the recipe. After you blend your sauce, if it’s too thin, put it back on the stove and let it boil on medium to low heat until it gets thick enough for you. For apple sauce, you can use apple juice or cider instead of water, but remember that the sweetness will be different.

Sugar 3 Tablespoons (38 G)

Adding sugar to applesauce gives it a little sweetness, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. I think you might need to change the amount I say depending on how sour your apples are. It’s okay to use light or dark brown sugar instead. You could also use honey or maple syrup instead.

Lemon Juice 2 Teaspoons

If you use fresh lemon juice or lemon juice from a bottle, your apples will not turn brown. You don’t have to do this step, but if you want to can your applesauce, I recommend it because it helps the color stay nice.

Cinnamon Sticks 2

I like to use cinnamon sticks, but you can cook the apples the way the recipe says and add ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon at the end. In case you’re using the sticks, don’t forget to take them out before you blend. If you don’t like cinnamon, don’t add it at all.

How To Make Apple Sauce?

  • Simply cut, peel, and core your apples. Place them in a large pot
  • Simply add water, sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon sticks, if desired, and thoroughly stir to combine all the ingredients.
  • After bringing everything to a simmer over medium heat, cover and stew for 20 to 30 minutes on medium-low heat.
  • Just stir it once or twice; avoid opening the lid too often, as this can cause the process to sluggish down. However, you are welcome to sometimes check in to make sure the apples aren’t burning! When you pierce your apples with a fork, they should be so soft and tender that they should give up easily!
  • Remove the pan from the stove and discard the cinnamon sticks. Simply mash, mix, or puree the apples.
  • Simply return the applesauce to the stove if you would like it a little thicker. Let it calm down and serve.

How To Use Canned Applesauce?

Applesauce made at home is a tasty and healthy snack on its own. What else can you use applesauce for?

  • Serve it over ice cream, just like apple crisp.
  • Spread some homemade applesauce with peanut butter or almond butter on bread.
  • Stir it into your oatmeal.
  • For a delicious apple parfait, sandwich some applesauce between oats and yogurt; people will go bananas for it. My cookbook’s apple crisp parfaits were a big hit with my recipe testers.

How To Store Homemade Applesauce In Crockpot?

Long-term storage of homemade applesauce in the freezer or refrigerator is quite safe. Any leftover applesauce can be frozen for up to three months or, if kept in an airtight container, refrigerated for four to five days. All you have to do is put the applesauce in the fridge to thaw out over night.
