Traeger Poultry Rub Recipe

Traeger Pork & Poultry Rub Ingredients:

Traeger spice rub is very flavorful and can be used for all chicken pieces and pork. It’s pretty low in sodium. Quick to make. It has sweet & savory flavors that pair perfectly with milder meats.

Paprika, onion, & chili pepper make it savory enough to complement any poultry recipe. I have used only fresh and simple ingredients here. Let’s know the ingredients in detail.

Salt:

Salt is a common ingredient used in almost all seasonings. It has the property to soften meat when used as a rub. 4 ½ teaspoon of salt is used in the recipe to add to the flavor.

Onion Powder:

Onion powder is dried, and ground onion is used as seasoning. It has a mild sweet and sour taste with a strong aroma. 2 teaspoons of onion powder make our Traeger pork rub recipe shine brighter.

Garlic Powder:

Garlic is a powerhouse of strong flavors. It gives a flavor punch when added to any recipe. 2 teaspoons of garlic powder is used in our recipe to make it pungent and spicy.

Brown sugar:

Brown sugar has an intense caramel-like flavor because of the molasses added to it. It goes well with seasonings and sauces. I used 4 tablespoons of brown sugar for sweetness and depth in the recipe.

Chili powder:

Chili powder is aromatic and spicy with a bright red color. You can use chili powder according to your preferred spiciness in poultry rub. However, 2 teaspoons of chili powder will make the recipe spicy enough.

Oregano:

Oregano is a game-changer ingredient that is spicy and pungent at the same time. It adds a subtle flavor while your pork or chicken is being cooked. 1 teaspoon oregano is used in our best Trager rub recipe to have a splendid effect on taste.

Cumin:

Cumin is a powerful herb that enhances the savory flavor of meat. It has a warm and slightly sweet flavor. 4 teaspoons of cumin is used to add richness to the flavor of the rub.

Smoked paprika:

Smoked paprika is dried ground paprika which is sweet and peppery. 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika gives our Traeger spice rub smokiness and depth.

Ground Black pepper:

Black pepper has a sharp flavor with a distinctive aroma. 2 tablespoons of ground black pepper makes our poultry rub all hot and spicy.

How To Make Traeger Spice Rub:

Do you also spend a lot of money on barbecue rubs? Our Traeger pork and poultry rub is prepared with notes of brown sugar, paprika, & onion that make all your white meats spark with flavor. You don’t have to buy a bottled poultry rub to have a great taste at home. Here I’ll describe the best Traeger rub recipe step by step.

Step 2:

Mix the ingredients very well so that there are no clumps. And here you go. Your homemade Traeger pork rub is ready to use.

Notes

  • You don’t want your poultry rub to be too salty, right? So, be aware of the salt content.

  • If you don’t like spicy food, you can lessen the amount of chili pepper.

  • Use an additional spoonful of garlic for a more garlicky flavor.

  • If you do not have black pepper on hand, substitute it with white pepper.

  • You can store the Traeger spice rub in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to six months.

  • Do not use a wet spoon for using stored rub. Moisture will spoil the rub.

  • Shake the jar very well before using. So that the clumps even out if any.

  • For more intense flavors, wet your chicken with vinegar or olive oil before rubbing seasoning.

  • This poultry rub is perfect for any smoked or BBQ recipes. It’s also good in the oven for pork roasts.
