Homemade Spicy Mayo Sauce Ingredients:
Are you into making your sauces at home? This spicy, creamy quick mayo sauce will instantly elevate homemade dishes and take them to the next level! Being homemade it’s healthy and free from preservatives.
Also, you can alter the heat level according to your buds. It’s good both as a spread or dip. Easy to store in the refrigerator. To make spicy mayo you will only need a few basic ingredients that you already have in your fridge.
Mayonnaise:
Our chili mayo sauce is mayonnaise-based. Mayonnaise is a creamy, thick, white sauce made with egg yolk, oil, and vinegar. It is commonly used in sandwiches and as a base for other sauces.
1 cup mayo is needed in our recipe. You can use both store-bought or homemade mayonnaise.
Sriracha Sauce:
Sriracha sauce is the key to spice and tanginess in our hot mayo dressing. Sriracha is a condiment made with chili pepper, vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and sugar. Any other spicy sauce like hot sauce will work. Add 2 tablespoons of sriracha to the sauce recipe.
Lime Juice:
Lime juice adds an additional zesty kick and some freshness to the zesty mayo dip. It can also be replaced with lemon juice or vinegar. 2 tablespoons will be enough for a spicy mayo sauce recipe.
Cajun Seasoning:
Cajun seasoning is a blend of paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic, onion powder, and salt. The seasoning spices up our sweet and spicy mayo sauce. You can alternatively use taco seasoning or your custom-made spice blend. Use 1 teaspoon in the mayo sauce recipe.
Honey:
Honey is a natural sweetener with numerous health benefits. Adding 1 teaspoon of honey will take your garlic mayo sauce to the next level.
Garlic Powder:
Garlic is a powerful herb both for its taste and aroma. It is used to attach complexity to the flavor of the sauce. Both sriracha and cajun seasoning include garlic powder so using garlic powder separately as an ingredient is completely optional. I use ½ teaspoon of garlic powder as I like the garlic flavor in my mayo sauce.
Himalayan Pink Salt:
Himalayan pink salt has a deeper flavor profile than regular table salt. Only use salt after tasting the sauce as sriracha and cajun seasoning have salt in them. I used ¼ teaspoon in the zesty dipping sauce recipe.
Sesame Oil:
Toasted sesame oil is the game-changer ingredient in our spicy mayo sauce recipe. It is dark brown having a strong flavor and aroma. ½ teaspoon of roasted sesame oil radiates intense flavor to the sauce.
Ground Ginger:
Ground ginger is dried and powdered ginger. It has a milder flavor profile than the fresh one. Use ¼ teaspoon in the sushi roll sauce recipe.
Black Pepper:
Black pepper completes the flavors in our mayo sauce. ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper will be enough.

Recipe Tips & Notes:
- If you want a thicker consistency in your spicy mayo sauce, use thicker mayonnaise. Homemade or store-bought will work.
- I personally like the semi-heat level, but you can make the mayo sauce extra spicy by adding chipotle powder or cayenne pepper. More sriracha will also make the sauce hot.
- To make it healthier, use Greek yogurt or sour cream instead of mayonnaise.
- If you don’t have cajun seasoning, use taco seasoning, or simply chili powder.
- Don’t have any lime juice? Use 1 teaspoon of vinegar.
- Curry powder can be a nice addition to our chili garlic mayo sauce.
- Try to use good quality mayonnaise with a nice texture in the sauce.
