- Gently heat the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Add minced garlic and onion, and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- Remove from heat, then stir in lemon juice and Dijon mustard until smooth.
- Add thyme or rosemary, season with salt and pepper, and mix well.
- Let the sauce cool, then drizzle over or toss with asparagus before serving.
