  • 1 Cup Ketchup
  • 1/2 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Molasses
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Hickory Liquid Smoke
  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Cayenne Pepper Optional
  • 1/4 Cup Water

Instructions

  • First, collect and measure all the required ingredients.
  • Secondly, combine ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, and the secret ingredient, which is the Hickory liquid smoke in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Thirdly, add onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and cayenne powder into the sauce base and stir nicely.
  • Fourthly, add some water to loosen the consistency, then simmer the sauce for 10 – 15 minutes. Stir occasionally in this step.
  • Fifthly, taste the sauce and adjust the ingredients if required.
  • Lastly, the sauce is ready. Transfer the sauce from the saucepan to a bowl and let it cool at room temperature. Then, you can enjoy the sauce.
  • To store the sauce, pour it in a glass bottle, air tight it, and refrigerate the sauce.
