- 1 Jar Pickled Herring Fillets
- 3/4 Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Small Red Onion Finely Diced
- 2 Tbsp Fresh Dill Chopped
- 1 Tbsp White Vinegar
- 1 Tsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tsp Lemon Zest Optional
- Salt As per taste
- Black Pepper As per taste
Rinse and pat dry the herring, then cut into bite-sized pieces.
In a bowl, mix sour cream, vinegar, sugar, and lemon zest until smooth.
Stir in the diced red onion and chopped dill.
Gently fold in the herring, mixing carefully to avoid breaking the fish.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to let flavours meld.
