Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Sauté the chopped onion for 3–4 minutes until soft.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to deepen the flavor.
Pour in crushed tomatoes and stir to combine.
Add sugar, salt, basil, oregano, and black pepper.
Let it simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add a splash of water if the sauce gets too thick.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Cool slightly and blend for a smoother texture (optional).
