Ingredients

  • 15-20 Dried Chile De Árbol Peppers
  • 3-4 Cloves Garlic Peeled
  • 1/4 Medium Onion Roughly Chopped
  • 1 Small Tomato Optional
  • 1/4 Cup White or Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup Water or Vegetable Stock Adjust as needed
  • 1/2-1 Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Lime Juice Optional

Instructions

  • Toast the dried chiles lightly in a dry pan.
  • Soak the toasted chiles in hot water for 10–15 minutes.
  • Sauté garlic, onion, and tomato (if using) until soft.
  • Blend soaked chiles, sautéed veggies, vinegar, salt, and water until smooth.
  • Strain the sauce for a smoother texture (optional).
  • Stir in lime juice and adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Store in a clean jar in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
